Christina: an introduction. I, I don't even know what to say to that. That's like, I, I feel like I'm getting like a lifetime achievement award or something.
Matt: You've missed it, haven't you? You've missed it.
Christina: every episode,
man. I need to record these succession so that anytime I'm having a bad day, I just listen to 'em and go, oh, someone thinks [00:01:00] I'm wonderful.
Matt: There you go. There you go. Excellent. Well, this season get ready for a stellar lineup. We are bringing you the bestselling authors industry truths, Dynamic agents revealing industry truths and marketing geniuses here to help you get your work seen and your voice heard.

Christina: It's good to be back
Matt: well. It is. It is good to be back.
Christina: We did take a little bit more of a
Matt: It does.
Christina: we normally do, but I think you and I both had some huge but exciting, uh, life changes. You have a new day job.
Um, I had an unfortunate death in the family. A beloved aunt, uh, but. She was big in [00:02:00] reading.
She's one of the reasons why I became the reader. I did, she was, she was one of the ones who was always gifting me even as a child, picture books.
That's what I'd get from her books upon, books upon books. And in fact one of her last acts was actually giving me uh, a book, that she wanted me to have. But yes, we had some big happenings this summer, so we took a little bit longer, uh, to come back to season five.
Matt: Mm-hmm.
Christina: the meantime, uh, everybody kept listening
because we hit a huge
Matt: Yes, we did 2,500 downloads of the podcast, so 2,500 ears, pairs of ears. Got to listen to us talk and share our stories and, and share some of our amazing guests that we've had along the way. So it's a huge thing for us to
Christina: I, personally, when when you told me that we had hit 2,500, I'm like, what? Because I can't, I can't even [00:03:00] compute five people listening to, not that we're not giving good information,
but we're just a little podcast. We're just, we're not Travis and Jason Kelsey and having Taylor Swift on.
Matt: Yeah. No. That we are not, but we are sometimes maybe even more engaging than they. They're, who knows?
Christina: Well, no,
Matt: Who knows?
Christina: I actually watched that podcast that Taylor Swift was on. 'cause
I was just, I mean, I've,
Matt: Yeah.
Christina: bits and pieces of their podcast,
you know, they're interesting.
Matt: Hmm.
Christina: But I was actually on a professional note. I was actually very impressed with Jason Kelsey and his interview questions.
He asked things of Taylor that I would want to
know.
Matt: Mm-hmm.
Christina: I'm just a basic fan. I'm not a fanatic. I love her music. I do respect her as a business
woman, so I was really
Matt: Mm-hmm.
Christina: some of the things that he asked about and some of the things that I didn't understand, like, the, the idea that she didn't own her masters.
I, it was a concept that just was [00:04:00] foreign to me because I'm not in the music industry. But yeah,
so I do respect those guys. So if we can be as entertaining as they are for the writing world, that would make
me happy.
Matt: Yeah. Oh, absolutely. But I think the season, we're on our way already because I think as we, in, as I alluded to in the opening, there's going to be conversations had with agents, there's gonna be conversations had with other authors that we are bringing in to share their perspective on things. There are going be conversations with marketing gen Geni, I guess it's multiple, uh, marketing geniuses,
Christina: geniuses.
Matt: geniuses, I, don't know. We're gonna have people on that are gonna share and add hopefully a lot of value and bring a lot of value to the conversation. So we are excited for what this season is going to bring. We hope that you are going to be just as excited and we'd love to hear from you though again.
Reach out to us, Matt at write out lab pod.com, christina@bookmatchmaker.com. You can also hit us [00:05:00] Um, We've got just about anywhere you can find us. I am at @sarcassem
Christina: Yep.
Matt: Christina is
Christina: Um,
Matt: At Book Matchmaker.
Christina: if you are looking to engage with me on social media, am mostly on threads these days. There's a lot of book threads, so, I'm hanging out there quite a bit. I still, do stories on ig. So you can engage me with me there. Uh, those are the two places that you're gonna find me most and it's at Book Matchmaker.
Matt: Perfect. Perfect. Well, you can always find us on our socials as well at Write Out Loud Pod. So look for us just about every platform except the, uh, dumpster Fire that shall remain nameless. We're
Christina: Um, um,
Matt: not there. Don't look for us there.
Christina: I, uh, I think there might be multiple dust dumpster fires. Now I can say
that. Um,
Matt: That's true one. One used to be a Bluebird, but now it's a [00:06:00] smoldering wreckage, so.
Christina: about. Yeah. We're not on that one at all.
Not on that
Matt: No. Nope, nope, nope. But this season again, yeah, like I said, I think, I think there's gonna be a lot had from this one. Um, I would love to hear from you and your perspective just around things that you would like us to talk about and questions you'd like us to ask. Knowing that we're gonna have agents coming up, knowing that we're gonna have other authors that are gonna share, you know, some of the, the things that they've gone through too, right.
Um, And who knows what else we'll come up with this season. But I think there is a lot in store and I'm very, very excited about what we are gonna bring.
Christina: we don't talk about it this season, uh, feel free to just reach out and say, Hey, this is something that I can't find a
good perspective on, and we'll take the topic and run with it and figure out.
Matt: Absolutely. You can leave us a voicemail on our website. You can also text us from the website as well. We can't respond to the text, but we can Um, So feel shoot us a note, you know, however you wanna do it. Carrier pigeon. fine. Smoke signals, you know, just [00:07:00] let us know which way to look.
I'm usually inside, so I don't, I don't see a lot of that, but
Christina: we're
Matt: I'll be here.
Christina: up some really fantastic authors. And it's funny because I look back on our previous seasons and guests that we've had on pretty much guests that we've said, Hey, come on, the podcast
we've ended up getting
Matt: Mm-hmm.
Christina: what, what would be your dream author?
Like, let's put it
Matt: Hmm,
Christina: Let's, who would you wanna, who do you wanna have a conversation with? Matt?
Matt: Hmm. Oh, I would love to have a conversation with, Hmm. Lee Child,
Christina: yeah.
Matt: Stephen King.
Gosh, who else? I would even love to have a conversation with some of the actors who have played roles from some of their books.
Uh, Alan Ritchson
would love to, he plays Reacher, would love that.[00:08:00]
Um, but yeah.
Christina: yeah,
Matt: about you?
Christina: I, think that would be an interesting thing. I, I actually think that in addition to the ones that you said, because, those are classics and I would love to talk to any one of those. Mazen he is a screenwriter creator. Uh. No, he didn't create the last of us, but he's a, screenwriter for that.
But he did HBO's, Chernobyl, um, and of course he didn't create the happening, but he, researched and, put together the that season of Chernobyl and I, that was just an incredible piece of work. So I'd love, uh, to interview him and, how he starts scripts and things like that. I agree with you. I think it would be interesting to get some of those actors, but I take it a step further and say an actor who has also done a screenplay,
Matt: Oh,
Christina: actually believe my newest obsession the show that is called Chad Powers.
Matt, if [00:09:00] you have
Matt: okay.
Christina: it, you must see it. It was completely hysterical. And the actor who plays Chad Powers is Glenn Powell. And I know a lot of people are like, oh, he's hot, man. I did not realize. If I am not mistaken, he is one of the writers on the
show. He a and.
Matt: Hmm.
Christina: and. And maybe Glenn Powell can come on and correct me if I'm wrong but I think he approached Eli Manning or, he initiated something. So the character of Chad Powers was created by Eli Manning.
He is,
Matt: Mm-hmm.
Christina: not familiar, a, a real famous quarterback. Don't ask me what team, because I'm not sure.
I think it was like. One of the New York teams,
Buffalo Bills, maybe, I
Matt: sports
Christina: ball.
Matt: Ball,
Christina: Um, anyway but he did a prank
where he put on facial prosthetics and there was, there were open tryouts for [00:10:00] quarterback of a football team. And so he did this, as a, two time Super Bowl winner champion or whatever they're called sports ball. No one knew who he was. And so he's this great, he's throwing these passes and like wanted to be his receiver and like, and then at the end he reveals that it's, not Chad Powers, it's Eli Manning. And so Glenn Powell had this idea for let's make it a TV show,
and they gave Chad Power's background.
And in fact, the character's name is, that's his fake name. and uh, it's just. It's a rarity that anything can make me laugh out loud,
and laugh out
Matt: Hmm.
Christina: to the point of tears. And there is one scene hysterical, absolutely hysterical. So, whether or not I actually do my research, if not, Glen Po I'd like to
have him on and, and talk
Matt: Go and.
Christina: how do [00:11:00] you write a script. make it funny, like, how do you write a script and make it funny?
maybe
Matt: Yeah.
Christina: uh, writers can
write to us and tell Oh
how do you, make something funny?
Matt: That makes me think of two people. Aaron Sorkin and Dan Levy. I,
Christina: Levy.
yes,
I
Matt: yes,
Christina: love to have him on
Matt: I mean both of them.
Christina: in.
I don't know
Matt: Yeah, if you say, fold it in one more dime.
Christina: I am not gonna try to be Moira. I can't do
it. Yeah.
Matt: so great. It's so great.
Christina: Yeah. That's a wishlist. That's a good wishlist.
Matt: Yep. That's a very good wish list.
Christina: Yeah.
Matt: we go. Let's do it. Let's do it. Well, very good. Well, that's gonna wrap up our exciting kickoff episode for season five. It's just a little bit of a temptation, just a little bit of an amm bosh, right. Teaser, get your, get you amped up for this coming season and, and what's to come here.
